The Body of Christ

Hello VVBC Family,

I am thankful for the opportunity to write to you this morning. Today I was thinking about the body of Christ, and how important it is that we work together to accomplish the work that God has called us to. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to serve alongside the VVBC staff and faith family. As we are going through the F.I.F. campaign, God has really been stirring our hearts financially and spiritually. One of the most important things we can do as a church is stay unified in God’s vision for our church. I reference the passage from 1 Corinthians 12:12-31, about being the body of Christ. God has gifted everyone in our church for a specific calling, a specific ministry, a specific sacrifice. It is important to know our roles in God’s vision for our church. My prayer is that you will know how to communicate and achieve the calling that God is laying on your heart. I hope you know that we as a staff are always available, so please feel free to contact us. We all have different gifts, and all these gifts are to unite for the common purpose of bringing glory to God through His local church.

I challenge you to ponder a few questions today.

How is God calling me to serve VVBC?

How has God equipped me to serve?

Are there positions that need to be fulfilled that God can use me in?

Am I sharing the Gospel with those around me?

I’m praying for you today, that God would give you a burden for His glory.

In Christ, Bro. Jason

God’s work is impossible

As I study and read Scripture, I see over and
over God calling His people to do the impossible.  Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, David,
Daniel, the Disciples:  God called all of
them and many others to do the impossible.
He also visited a young woman named Mary and asked her to do the
impossible.  Bear a child even though she
was still pure.  Not just any child, but
the Son of God, the Messiah!  The Gospel
of Luke records her conversation with the angel Gabriel concerning the
child.  I’m reminded from their
conversation how we can face and do the impossible tasks that God calls us to
do.  First, Gabriel told Mary in Luke
1:30, “Do not to be afraid.”  Fear is the enemy of faith.  God tells his people not to be afraid over
300 times in His Word!  We must trust God
when fear overwhelms us.

Second, Gabriel promised Mary that the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit
would cover her.  God provides the Holy
Spirit to indwell and empower His children.
Just before He ascended, Jesus told the disciples in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
God never calls us to do the impossible
without providing the presence and the power of the Spirit to do it!

Finally, Gabriel told Mary in Luke 1:37,
For nothing is impossible with
God.
  Mary heard God calling
her to do the impossible.  God promised
His presence and His power to accomplish the impossible.

God’s work is impossible……. for us.  Nothing is impossible for God!  As we continue in our 40 Days of Spiritual
Preparation and consider God’s vision for our church, His work seems
impossible!  It is impossible for us
apart from God.  That’s why we must move FORWARD
IN FAITH
trusting God to do the impossible in our church for His
Kingdom through His people for His glory!

The one who
calls you is faithful and he will do it.

Thessalonians 5:24
